What is a pronoun?
Pronouns are substitutes for nouns. It’s that simple.
Now pronouns are really important. People use them every day without giving them the credit they deserve.
Here is a list of pronouns.
Pronoun list: I, he, she, it, you, we, they, me, him, her, it, you, us, them
Some of these pronouns live in the subject section: they replace the main noun that is starring as the subject of the sentence. They are called subject pronouns.
Subject pronouns:
I, he, she, it, you, we, they
Example: Bill loves Janet.
He loves Janet. ("He" replaces “Bill.”)
But some pronouns live in the predicate section: they replace the nouns that come after the main verb. They are called object pronouns.
Object pronouns:
Me, him, her, it, you, us, them
Example: He likes Samantha. He likes her. ( "Her" replaces “Samantha.”)
Possessive pronouns show ownership.
My, mine, his, hers, theirs, its
Examples: I am afraid of that lion. Its teeth are really sharp.
It's my ball. No, it's his ball. No, it's their ball. Well, now it's mine.
