The ScholarSkills National REading Bee™
Introducing the ScholarSkills National Reading Bee™
ScholarSkillsⓇ, the current sponsor of the Scripps NYC Spelling Bee, is pleased to announce the
National Reading Bee™.
What is the Reading Bee™?
The Reading Bee is a language arts competition where students demonstrate proficiency in the skills they need to understand everything they read. These skills include spelling, phonics, vocabulary from roots, prefixes, & suffixes, grammar, fluency, and general knowledge. In effect, the Reading Bee inspires and equips students to develop a deep knowledge of the world and of words.
What is the goal of the Reading Bee™?
Our mission is to inspire and equip students to think analytically about the structures of sounds, words, and sentences so that they can speak, read, and write with confidence and excellence.
Who can participate?
At this time, the Reading Bee is for students from grades 2-3
When will the Reading Bee take place?
The Reading Bee is a tournament of champions competition that hosts several qualifying rounds throughout the school year from February to August.
Where will it be held?
Reading Bee qualifying events will be held online. The final even will be held in-person if public health conditions permit.
What do the winners get?
The first-place winner will receive the Reading Bee trophy and $500. The second-place runner-up will receive $100, and the third-place finisher will receive $50.
