How much does your guidance counseling services cost?
STARS offers important information about scholarships and coursework to all parents who enroll in the STARS Parent's League for a subscription of $37.50 per month (when paid as an annual sum of $450). During the student's junior and senior years, personalized services, such as essay and application reviews, can be purchased as needed or as a package.
How does the STARS program work?
Our Systematic Training in Accelerated Reading Skills (or STARS) course is divided into five specialized skill-building modules and one test preparation module. Each skill-building module lasts twelve weeks (3 months). STARS concludes with direct, intensive, comprehensive test preparation for the PSAT/SAT and ACT. This long-term test prep course lasts for 18 months.

When does STARS begin, and how long does it last?
STARS is an annual program that runs throughout the school year. It also includes summer review and reading programs. The program lasts five years for an eighth grader, 4 years for a ninth grader, and three years for a tenth grader,
What grade levels can participate in STARS?
STARS is open to students from eighth grade to 10th grade.
How do students register for the STARS program?
STARS is a selective program for high-achieving students. Since STARS is an accelerated curriculum, students must have high grades and the ability, determination, and discipline to do advanced coursework.
Once the registration is received, the student will go into a pending status until the most recent report card is received. If the student meets all requirements, parents will be notified of their child's acceptance. If the child is accepted into the program, parents will pay for the first module’s tuition and purchase all the required resources for that module. Students who do not meet the requirements can attempt to register for the next school year.
STARS Diagnostic Test: Specialized Testing in Analytical Reading Skills
After being accepted into the program, students must take the STARS diagnostic test. This is not an admissions test: its purpose is to delineate the student’s strengths and weaknesses before the program begins.
How are students instructed?
Students are taught through an interactive combination of weekly, thirty-minute, live online classes and asynchronous learning activities.
Does STARS have a summer program?
The STARS summer program provides enrichment through reading and review, or R&R. Students will read classic and contemporary essays to enhance their vocabulary, grammar, and critical reasoning skills. STARS also offers Module One for comprehensive language arts skills during the summer.
How much does STARS cost?
Tuition for each module is $600. Tuition must be paid before the module begins. Tuition for Direct, Intensive Test Prep which comprises 18 months and consists of math, reading, and reasoning skills for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT, is $3,600.
All required resources for each module are billed separately and must be purchased before the module begins.
What resources are required for the STARS program?
Students will need digital resources and physical textbooks. Each resource, except for the digital program, is available on the Scholarskills STARS website. We will send parents a link for each resource once the student has been accepted into the program.
